Customize activity code colors

By default, activity codes use the Genesys Cloud system colors. When you enable Use system default, Genesys Cloud:

• Applies the default background color.
• Automatically selects a contrasting text color.
• Disables the custom styling controls.

After this feature is enabled, some Workforce Management views may display different activity colors even if you do not customize any activity codes. This change ensures a consistent color experience across Workforce Management. For example, Agent Schedule and Historical Shrinkage now use Workforce Management activity colors instead of their previous color schemes.

As an administrator, when you disable the Use system default checkbox, you can then:

• Select a custom background color.
• Copy the styling from another activity code.
• Override the automatically selected text color.

Changes take effect immediately and apply to both existing and future schedules that use the activity code.

To customize a single activity code, perform the following steps:

1. Click Menu > Workforce Management > Workforce Management Configuration > Activity Codes.
2. Select the appropriate business unit.
3. Click the activity code that you want to update.
4. In the Styling section, clear the Use system default checkbox.
5. Select a background color.
6. (Optional) Override the automatically selected text color.
7. To verify how the activity code appears, review the preview.
8. Click Save.

The selected styling is applied throughout supported Workforce Management scheduling experiences.

Apply the same styling to multiple activity codes simultaneously from the Activity Codes page. Use this option to apply consistent styling to multiple activity codes. To customize multiple activity codes, perform the following steps:

1. Click Menu > Workforce Management > Workforce Management Configuration > Activity Codes.
2. Select the appropriate business unit.
3. Select the check box next to each activity code that you want to update.
4. Click Update Style.
5. The Styling dialog box is displayed. In the Styling dialog box, do one of the following:
   • To apply the default system styling to all selected activity codes, select the Use system default checkbox.
   • To apply custom styling, clear the Use system default checkbox. If you clear the Use system default checkbox, perform the following steps:
     1. Select a background color.
     2. (Optional) Override the automatically selected text color.
     3. To verify how the selected activity codes appear, review the preview.
6. Click Save.

Genesys Cloud applies the selected styling to all selected activity codes.

When you select multiple activity codes, the Styling dialog box displays the styling of the first activity code in the current selection. This styling serves only as the starting point for your changes and does not indicate that all selected activity codes use the same styling. When you save your changes, Genesys Cloud applies the selected styling to all selected activity codes.

Use the color picker to select a custom background color. Depending on your browser, you can also enter or paste a hexadecimal color value directly. Genesys Cloud stores custom colors as six-character hexadecimal values. For example: #8B5CF6. When you select a custom color, the preview updates automatically.

Copy the styling from an existing activity code to quickly apply the same appearance to another activity code. To copy the styling from another activity code, perform the following steps:

1. Open the activity code that you want to update.
2. In the Styling section, click Match another activity.
3. Search for the activity code whose styling you want to copy.
4. Select the activity code. Genesys Cloud copies the following styling from the selected activity code:
   • Background color
   • Text color settings
5. To apply the copied styling, review the preview and click Save.

Genesys Cloud automatically selects a light or dark text color based on the selected background color to maintain readability and support accessibility guidelines. Whenever you change the background color, Genesys Cloud recalculates the recommended text color.

If necessary, you can override the recommended text color. If the selected text color reduces readability, Genesys Cloud displays a warning. The warning does not prevent you from saving the activity code.

The Use system default option determines whether an activity uses the default Genesys Cloud styling or custom styling.

When you select Use system default, the activity:

• Uses the default background color.
• Uses the default text color.
• Automatically applies a contrasting text color for readability.
• Disables the custom styling controls.

The preview remains available and displays the default appearance.

When you clear Use system default, the activity enters custom styling mode. Genesys Cloud uses the default color as the starting point for customization. You can then customize the background and text colors as needed.

Restore the default styling

If you select Use system default again, Genesys Cloud removes the custom styling and restores the default appearance. Genesys Cloud does not retain previous custom colors. If you clear Use system default again later, the activity starts with the default system color rather than the previously configured custom color.

Before you save your changes, use the preview controls to review how the activity appears across supported Workforce Management experiences. The preview updates automatically as you modify the styling. Depending on the view, the preview displays different schedule states, including:

• Default
• Selected
• Unsaved
• Exceptions
• Explanations
• Planning Group Validation
  Note: The Planning Group Validation preview state appears only for custom On Queue activity codes.

Reviewing the preview helps ensure that the selected colors remain readable and visually distinct across different schedule states.
