What is direct survey, and how is it related to web survey?

Direct survey is a web survey subtype designed to collect customer feedback after digital messaging interactions. Functionally, a direct survey works the same as a standard web survey. The key difference is how the survey is delivered to the customer.

Instead of sending an email invitation, a direct survey is delivered as a direct URL, typically shared within a digital messaging conversation when the interaction ends. The survey link is generated through an API request and displayed to the customer by the messaging platform.

Important considerations

  • A direct survey behaves the same as a standard web survey, except for how the invitation is delivered.
  • No email invitation is sent; the survey is delivered only as a direct URL.
  • The survey link is not authenticated. Anyone with access to the link can open and complete the survey.
  • Each survey link can be completed only once. After submission, the link becomes invalid.
  • Direct surveys require an active, published survey form.
  • Direct surveys follow the same analytics, data retention, privacy, and compliance behavior as other web surveys.
