European Sovereign Region

Feature coming soon: Genesys Cloud European Sovereign Region

As of July 2026, the Genesys Cloud European Sovereign Region (ESR) is an independent deployment of Genesys Cloud CX within the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), which is located in Brandenburg, Germany. The ESC is designed for public sector organizations and businesses in highly regulated industries that require enhanced sovereignty controls, data residency, and operational autonomy within the European Union (EU).

Genesys Cloud ESR helps organizations strengthen data sovereignty and accelerate AI adoption, while benefiting from EU-based support and operations. Genesys Cloud ESR is an independent AWS cloud environment, separate from existing regions, such as Frankfurt, Dublin, London, or Zurich. It is physically and logically contained within the EU, with security operations and support managed by personnel located exclusively in the EU. Customer data (as defined in the ) will only be processed in the EU, backed by strong technical, and administrative access controls.

A goal of the ESR is to work toward feature parity with all other non-sovereign Genesys Cloud regions.

Scope of the European Sovereign Region

All core, non-optional functionality is contained within the scope of the region. Genesys personnel from outside the European Union will not access customer data in the scope of the ESR.

Functionality outside the scope of the European Sovereign Region

Customers should note that certain optional features and functionality will be outside the scope of the ESR and may process customer data outside the EU. These optional features are not necessary for operating Genesys Cloud. All of these optional features are considered Buy-at-Your-Own-Diligence (BYOD). BYOD features may be hosted outside AWS ESC or outside the EU and may process customer data.

Some solutions offered by Genesys and other companies through AppFoundry, a Genesys marketplace of integrations supported by the Genesys Cloud CX application, including products categorized as Genesys Apps, may meet customers’ organizational requirements for sovereignty. Customers are responsible for verifying that enabled integrations (supplied by Genesys or a third party) comply with such organizational requirements.

Customers may choose to use various interaction channels including email, SMS, and third-party messaging channels. Communications in these interaction channels occur outside the scope of the Genesys Cloud ESR.

Should customers choose to integrate Genesys Cloud with other third-party systems, such third-party systems and any data transferred thereto is outside the scope of the Genesys Cloud ESR.
