In a future release, Genesys Cloud will allow administrators to configure inactivity timeout values by user group instead of applying a single organization-wide setting. Previously, inactivity timeout applied to all users in the organization with one fixed value.
With this update, administrators can:
- Apply different inactivity timeout values to specific user groups.
- Test inactivity timeout with a smaller group before rolling it out more broadly.
- Prioritize group rules so the correct timeout is applied when users belong to multiple groups.
This update also includes changes to where inactivity timeout settings are managed and how they appear in the user interface:
- Inactivity timeout settings move from Organization Settings > Settings to Organization Settings > Authentication.
- The layout of the Organization Settings > Authentication page has been updated to support the new configuration model.
These changes provide more control over how inactivity timeout is applied across different roles. They help organizations avoid logging out users unexpectedly while still managing session duration for cost and security requirements.
